We almost called it V2

WE ARE CALLING THIS VERSION

For months, we’ve been calling what we were building internally “V2.” It was a placeholder. A way to talk about the work without making promises about what it would become.

But somewhere in the middle of it, the work got a name that actually fit.

Northflow Flux.

Where the name came from

Flux comes from the Latin fluxus – meaning guess what...? flow. That part was obvious. Northflow has always been about flow – the movement of content from idea to published episode, from chaos to process. Flux doesn’t rename that. It continues it.

What made us land on it is what the word also carries: continuous change, transformation that hasn’t finished yet. Because that’s where we are. We’re not standing at the finish line of something. We’re in the middle of it.

Why we rebuilt

The world is moving fast – AI faster than almost anyone anticipated – and we spent the last several months tearing down and rebuilding the foundation of this platform so it could move with it.

We could have shipped V2 and said nothing. A cleaner UI, a faster platform, done.

Instead we want to open the curtain.

This rebuild happened because we looked at where software is going and knew Northflow wasn’t structurally ready for it. Workflow automations. AI agents with real context on your production. Guest and client flows that run without anyone having to manage them. That future is close. But you cannot bolt it onto an architecture that wasn’t built for it.

So we built a new one.

Where we are now

Flux is a platform that has done the hard structural work and is now ready for what comes next. It’s not the final form. It’s the chapter where everything that follows becomes possible.

We didn't want a version number. We wanted a name that told the truth about what we built and why.

That's Flux. And it's coming in a few weeks.

More on what's inside it soon.

If you have used Northflow, you know the workflow already: create a task, assign it to someone on your team, they do the work. Agents work the same way. You assign them to a task, they read what needs to happen, and they handle it. They show up right next to your team members in the assignment dropdown. Here is what is live: Transcriber AgentAssign it to a...

Product updates Hey Reader, It’s been a minute, hasn’t it? The last email we sent was back in December and yeah… we know that kind of silence can feel like we disappeared. Quick update: we’ve been building. For the past few months, the entire Northflow team has been heads down on something we didn’t want to rush. Not a feature update. A full rebuild from the ground up. New foundation, new interface, everything rethought. Why? Because where content, AI, and workflows are going next deserves...

Product update Introducing the Command Center Your new planning hub inside Northflow. Hey Reader, As more of you bring your shows, clients, and team members into Northflow, we kept hearing the same question. Now that everything lives here, where do you actually plan it all? It became clear pretty quickly that you needed one place to plan everything together, so we made it our priority. We know how stressful it can feel when your calendar is in one tool, your tasks in another, and your ideas...
